Unless you speak Portuguese you will struggle to pursue TAAG yourself. Very few TAAG staff speak English. TAAG customer service is actually not that bad these days but you have to speak Portuguese to get anywhere with them!
I went with a claims agency in the end. Air Help point blank refused as it was TAAG but flightright agreed to take it on. Lets see what happens.
The other option is to use my Irish address to initiate an EU small claims procedure against TAAG in Portugal. I have 6 years to pursue this under Irish law or 3 years under Portuguese law.
TAAG it seems do not pay out any compensation ever!
