load limits are pretty much at the discretion of the manager. Most times at standard registers, if they even allow it and know how to load(let alone split), managers will cap at $200. Sometimes cool employees will do $500+. Sometimes standard employees in that same store will refuse outright and send you to MC. I believe all registers inside the entire store treat the process exactly the same. You are the only person who can figure out what your own store will allow.
OP got a load fail, and manager said it was due to load limits. That is wrong. There are many reasons the card might have failed but that is not it
Agree with the idea that CSRs may personally impose a load limit, but that is different than the system enforcing it
