Me again: I had transferred my old plastic Suica to my apple wallet (got the 500 Yen deposit to spend, as described). In the meantime, I had downgraded my personal Amex gold to a green. I used the Amex green to load my Suica in the wallet (while still in the US, would that make a difference?) and it appears that the charge was marked as "Communications - Cable&Internet".
Any recent data points? Will Suica continue to generate 3x MR with the Amex green? I believe I read on Reddit that it would initially show up as "Communications - Cable&Internet" but down the road still credit 3x MR.
It finally posted, with 3x MR for travel. Interestingly, in the app, the category is still listed as "Communications - Cable&Internet".
