This is off-topic, but you mentioned driver training, which is a big pet peeve of mine since I just had to renew my driving license. At some point, the government decided that the method to improve the quality of drivers is to abolish permanent driving licenses and force everyone to have to renew their driving license in-person every five years, which involves watching a silly one-hour training module on how to drive safely, visiting a doctor to get a fit-to-drive medical certificate, then the following at the land transport department: a colorblind test, depth and peripheral vision tests, and a reaction time test. With the renewal procedures, only the reaction time test (stepping on the accelerator then hitting the brakes once a red light appears) has an obvious practical aspect. Of course the most important part is the government pockets 505 baht for every license renewal.
The funny thing is: everyone who already has a permanent driving license is grandfathered in, which is pretty much everyone above the age of 40. So I suppose maybe in 60 years when the vast majority of people with permanent licenses are gone, we might see an improvement in driving, but I am not confident this "fix" has done anything to improve driving safety among those under the age of 40 either.
Now the real question is: do moped drivers also get their
motosai blessed? Because many of them drive as if they are reliant on divine intervention.
