On a semi related note, I vaguely recall taking nonstop flights between ACK/MVY/HYA and EWR during the late 80s and early 90s. Those started off as PBA and then became CO Express around the time CO took over PE.
For an international flight, it's pretty risky to rely on a flight from MVY to a connection at JFK. Also, you said it, summer only..So, at least for us, all international trips, and most domestic trips will originate in BOS...so good to have B6 with non-stops to CDG, Dublin, London, etc.
