I can be a lot of work to monitor. That's why I have my computer do it for me! It didn't take long to build the original framework for the search, so if I have a new property or a new set of dates and promo codes to monitor, I just add it to a configuration file of saved searches, and it just searches that for me at regular intervals. I just set it and forget it, and it emails me if it finds a better rate. It's really no work at all, now that it's built. Because I book so far in advance, there are always more than a dozen bookings that it is regularly monitoring, hence the desire to leverage technology. Plus, I just like techy things. I am a Chief Information Officer in my day job, so it's just something I enjoy.
