This seems to be a perennial issue at Gatwick. To be fair I have seen it where the First queue gets stuck as the one agent on that desk gets held up doing something and Club desks don’t take from the First queue.

I’m fairly sure there is no other service desk at Gatwick now so the check in desks get held up doing all kinds of other bits like IRROPs, groups, staff travel etc. and as you say in the Premium section it only takes a couple of agents to be doing a more complex task than checking a bag and it really slows down.

Annoyingly I often have a pushchair and/or oversize bags which are a bit of a pain to get check in at the self serve machines.
