After some more thought I'm certainly inclined to explore oneworld status more since as you said they often have the most convenient/cheap routing for intra Europe. I'm hoping with their new A321XLRs they may even fly to YYZ one day. Unfortunately my flying patterns /basic fare would not be enough to get me even silver on Iberia, so I would have to do it either through their credit card or qualify via another OW airline
