ANA J Carry On - how strict?

I’m flying HND-JFK in J (The Room, lucky me). Like everyone else, I’ve acquired an entire bag of gifts and souvenirs while in Japan despite my best efforts. I will have a 35L North Face base camp backpack, a Tumi “just in case” tote and my cross body purse. I flew JFK-HND minus the tote and of course had no issues. I’m new to ANA, on most other airlines I’ve never had issues if I bring two carry ons + my purse but I know ANA’s policy in J is one carry on + one personal item. And nope, purse can’t be squeezed into one or the larger bags since they are at max capacity.

Question for those who frequently fly ANA: think I can get away with taking all those as carry on or will I be forced to check in one bag? I know ultimately if they stick with the rules I’ll need to check one bag so no need to reiterate; just asking for actual experience if you can share to manage my own expectations.

And yes, I have quite an aversion to checking bags!

Thanks in advance
