These could be 3 cute ideas for your August escape:
  • Saint-Émilion (France) – Château Grand Barrail is in the middle of Bordeaux wine country, and it’s stunning. Proper fairytale château vibes with a pool, vineyards all around, and amazing local wine that doesn’t cost a fortune. Perfect for a relaxing couple of days and very romantic without feeling touristy. Direct flights to Bordeaux from Alicante too.
  • Bruges (Belgium) – Hotel de Orangerie is right on the canal and feels super cosy and elegant. Bruges itself is small, walkable, and beautiful – cobbled streets, beer bars everywhere, and you don’t need to do much more than just stroll and take it in. Easy to reach via direct flight to Ostend-Bruges.
  • Monopoli (Italy) – La Peschiera is basically a beachy hideaway with a bunch of pools and direct sea views from your room. Feels super intimate and chill. Monopoli and Polignano a Mare nearby are lovely for evening walks and local wine/spritzes. Direct flights to Bari from Alicante, then an easy drive.
All SLH, all romantic, and all within a short flight + drive. Depends what kind of vibe you’re after – countryside wine escape, charming old town, or coastal lounging.
