I think this was mainly RR’s doing, rather than BA choosing to have their 787s on the ground? It’s clear they are not happy with the performance of the RR’s, they have taken steps to mitigate and ordered the next two tranches of 787-10’s with GE engines. Ironically they ordered their second tranche of 777s with RR engines after similar problems with the GE engines on the first batch of 772s!
