The lounge was a wreck. Dirty dishes on every table, no clean glasses available, and the snacks were nearly picked clean. The friendly front desk staffer brought us our key after about 30 minutes. Our room had no welcome amenity. It was an overall poor first impression.
The junior suite they put us in was pretty nice. It had a great view, a very nice soaking tub, and my wife loved the large, well-lit makeup mirror. The Natura Bissé toiletries are very nice. The AC didn't work the first night. They got it working somewhat better the second day and left me a bar of chocolate for the trouble.
The pool is very nice. We booked massages that were honestly pretty mediocre, but they came with free access to the spa, and that was terrific. Steam room, sauna, salt room, hot and cold plunges, and a large indoor pool with jets and fountains. The women working the front desk at the spa were really nice and helpful.
I found the location to be inconvenient. It wasn't close to anything we wanted to see, and required a longish tram/bus ride or a taxi to get to anything. Barcelona taxis are great though. Readily available, no shenanigans around the meter/route, and they all take credit cards. I installed the FreeNow app to hail taxis but found it wasn't necessary.
The Peruvian restaurant on the roof was really good, and so was the breakfast.
On the day of our checkout the water wasn't working, so we couldn't shower or flush toilets before we left. The front desk staff was apologetic, but didn't offer us an alternative (was the shower in the spa working?) or any sort of compensation.
Overall it was pretty meh. If I return to Barcelona I'll stay somewhere else.
Did two nights here earlier this month and agree with all of this, but I’m a quite harsh marker (read that as very spoilt).
The breakfast selection and quality is great for a Grand Hyatt, although staff were totally overwhelmed on Sunday morning and there was a queue of about 15 minutes at 9am for a table which only looked to get worse over the morning. The pool is great, Peruvian restaurant is very good (although basically London priced, you’re definitely partly paying for the view / experience), the gym is meh. The lounge was a disaster zone by the afternoon with every table covered in cups as noted - it is not staffed and there is no one checking entry, just a cleaner that comes periodically to take away empties and refill things. I booked a Grand Suite which have a nice layout and I’d probably stay again just because of the value for money of this. The hard product looks very nice but the finishes are a bit cheap (e.g. the bathroom is not real marble). A few service issues like my key not being programmed for 4pm check out.
It’s in a different league to Grand Hyatt Athens at least, but not as good as Grand Hyatt Berlin.
