Not sure where you are based but in Europe we have dedicated travel insurance that specifically covers you for just holidays/vacations. Typically it covers medical expenses if you get sick and cancellation refund cover should you get sick before you travel . Also extra perks include travel delay cover / missed departure / missed cruise connection / lost passports / delayed baggage or lost baggage. On my policy if I arrive at a foreign destination and my bags don't I can go out and buy emergency clothes keep receipts and claim it back.

A lot of people make the mistake of relying on their limited credit card insurance or other advertised free ones at their bank or home medical insurance which sometimes leaves them under insured. I would not leave home without the max Premier Plus policy.
