Check your Travel Insurance as well. Mine allows me to claim EUR 75.00 per day for necessities over a maximum of five days. My bag was once lost for 19 days, so I happily spent the EUR 375.00 on things I needed... Calvin Klein underwear, a decent French Connection jacket, Calvin Klein jeans... they paid out without a quibble. No need to restrict yourself when it comes to Travel Insurance. The only reason I was confident with that was someone else had written that they don't actually care what you buy as long as it's within the limit.

Wouldn't have done the same if I had no insurance and was reliant on the airline, as I am sure it's very different there, but do check your Travel Insurance allowance. That alone covered several years of the insurance payments for me and is still the only claim I've ever made.
