Technically speaking independent Latvia never had any colonies. The Duchy of Courland and Semigallia, which was located in lands that are nowadays parts of modern day Latvia, however did. Their former palaces in Jelgava and especially Rundale near Bauska reflect the former glory of this little known empire and are well worth a visit on your next trip to Latvia!
