Lost Baggage - How Frequently & Quickly is it Found?

Dealing with lost luggage for the first time ever and it happens to be on Aer Lingus. I had a flight from DUS to DUB and cut it quite close on time (I was second to last person at the gate and only made it by running through the C gates at DUS), so it seems my checked bag didn't make it in time, which I confirmed with my Airtag that shows the bag in the check-in hall of DUS. I filed the lost baggage claim at the baggage claim desk, and they mentioned that it should be sent on the next flight, which was that evening. However, when I checked later, the bag was still in the same position despite evening DUS flight having taken off, so it seems like they hadn't found it. Now, I am a bit concerned that the bag simply won't be returned to me, or that they will send it to my current hotel, which I am only staying in for 2 more nights before returning to the US. Can anyone speak to how likely it is to get the bag back and how long it will take? Will EI reimburse for items like toiletries, underwear and socks that I will need to purchase in the meantime?
