Dear dear LH lurkers, here is my question for you: I am SEN and I often travel with a companion who is UA*1K but not M&M, and she books separately on LH.com or via UA but we fly some LH segment together (for example MUC-BER); this means that many times she has to pay for preferred seats which are free for me (but would be free for her if she was accompanied by me).
Once, only once, an LH phone agent told us there was a semi-secret way to mark her booking as 'accompanied' by me and the agent managed to do this, after which my companion did get a preferred seat for free. This was great! However, since then I have tried to do this 4 different times and none of the LH agents knew how, and all said it was not possible....so how did we manage this once before...some real magic? =)
