If you want exit or bulkhead, or any advanced seat selection on an LH group flight you have to pay for it. So factor these couple of hundred dollar cost into your calculations. I would book depending on plane or tbh on availability of good seats at booking time. Avoid any 777 from Austrian or Swiss. If possible get on an A380 (76A/K are the best seats IMHO). I think LH flies them to both Chicago and Delhi this summer. Other then that plane wise (if you can get bulkhead or exit row) the order for me would be:
1. A380
2. A350
3. A330/340
4. 767
5. 789
6. 747
7. 777
all of the first four it is possible to get good seats, all the bottom three I fly only when in Premium Economy or better.
