I'll take your word for it but I've never encountered this before.

IMO the so-called "window" seats that have you inches from the aisle but the maximum distance from the window just seem strange to be honest.
Just to understand this layout better, if you were travelling alone and wanted a window seat you would ALWAYS choose an even-numbered row, right?
I am flattered that you are prepared to take my word for this and not at all strange the idea is that by doing this you can get more seats in the space and still provide a pleasant experience (far far better than the normal 2-2-2 layout) and you can still see out of the window. Some airlines (Oman for instance) have a 2-2-2 layout but have cleverly designed it so the window seat has direct access to the aisle where as most 2-2-2 you have to climb over
You must always check the lay out of the plane you are using but on the TK A350 -900 as far as I know picking an even seat would get you the one nearer the window but with other airlines or planes the answer may be different
