Other than my last flight where IFE/wifi was down (announced by crew during boarding - thankfully, as it was enough time to quickly download some stuff on my phone), I have been able to connect on every flight.

The IFE on the RJs is sometimes slow and basically unusable, but thats a function of the ground based cell technology that's outdated in the ever increasing bandwidth world.
