I visit Morocco a couple of times a year (and first visited in 1993!) and these experiences are very much not the norm. There are very occasional scams but Mohammed 6 initiated a huge crackdown on tourist scams and hassles 25 years ago which made Morocco very easy and straightforward to visit.
