ideally we worry not about the connection which honestly is out of our control. Knowing that we have backups in case of a failed connection makes the flight easier.

agreed. In any class. You might want to build up hotel point inventory if you need a last minute hotel. Irrops happen and they’re not fun. You can also rebook your flight to sfo and have that flight be delayed due to MX.
