We were caught out by this going to Spain, why this wasn’t made simple prior to 2018, i don’t know and it leaves airlines and staff trying to figure out what the exact requirements are, inevitably some will get it wrong. But I’d suggest to anyone approaching their last 12 months to just get it renewed. It seems like this issue is going to be around until 2028. It was recently flagged on Martin Lewis ITV show, it’s clearly catching many out.
