So then I'm considering one of AMEX/Chase/C1 for lounge access, but I do think they're better in theory than execution because of the limited airport footprint and the terminal locations of the lounge. So maybe I'll stick with the AA Citi. Still unsure. At least the AA lounges don't have lines...that's a serious deterrent for me for lounges. The last thing I'd want is the DL/AMEX lounge punchcard along with their lines.
Exactly my process now. AC's have just been easy and I've until recently flown almost exclusively on AA. Despite being rather bland and uninspiring, they're a godsend for productivity during layovers and getting a quick bite/drink. Crowding can sometimes be an issue, but not to the degree that there's a line. Figured I'd try a year with Amex and Chase or C1 then I'll really know how much I value the AC access.
