While I have never stayed at the at HGI, its maybe 2 blocks away from the Homewood Suites Hamburg which I have stayed at several times (has been renovated within the last 18 months) and the benefit of that area is you are in walking distance to Malones/Drakes and the LEX Costco is close by (which is always the first stop I make whenever I arrive in LEX to gas up and then hit their Liquor store to stock up at far lower prices than here in the Old Dominion). Its also a very short drive away is the Liquor Barn Hamburg referenced above.
I will to be staying at the Hotel Bourre Bonne Louisville Curio for at least one night at the end of June when I am in town for the Stephen Foster at Churchill so can report back on that new hotel.
