In starting Hyatt, to learn about the locations and property categories and brands, searched using the map and homepage for several brands, and some random sampling within some expensive brands (Park Hyatt, Unbound, Alila, Andaz, Thompson, Standard) for a general understanding where a brand has very high and very low relative pricing eg. Park Hyatt and Andaz in Qatar much lower than in Europe, Centric in Malta much lower than Madrid .
Knowing also from recent years that Turkey, China, Malaysia hotel prices/travel routes/Visa ease of entry requirements are good for Promo's/nights.

Hyatt has many brands with less than 10 properties - some brands not so differentiated, but Brand Explorer good for game-ification and to try out some property types and loyalty member gets something for it

Cancun, DR, Shanghai, Mallorca, Germany (Frankfurt-Mainz) are good "clusters" of multiple brands.

Also, depends how often you might be (or want to be) in some location eg. if you are near Cancun and/or airfare not high, and you only have breaks of 3-4 nights (vs 20-30 nights) then just do 1 or 2 properties.

And mindset for discovering a different neighbourhood / side of a city is an aspect to consider ...done this in many cities...it's part of the travel / exploration experience to not loop back each night to a property but to continue on "one-way"

And if there is ever a Promo per Stay, or new property or some other Promo, that can stack/add to the benefits by switching brands with a short-stay at each.

It's also a good thing that Hyatt is adding to its brands (Me & All will separate from JdV, The Standard, The Standard X, etc forthcoming).

Years ago, Hilton emailed activity including number of countries and wrote a few times to Hilton suggesting some bonus for stays in nn countries (in a year or Lifetime).
Brands is the better way (vs countries), and Hyatt is doing it !
I don't disagree with the sentiment - but the big difference here is that most people going to a Cancun all inclusive aren't going to enjoy/explore the city or region - they're generally going to enjoy the hotel (/pool/beach/weather). It's a much easier argument to make to "hotel hop" every couple of nights when you're in a city and want to experience different areas/neighborhoods and the hotel is simply a place to sleep.
