My tip is to take the lift down from arrivals level to passport control which will bring you out to the area where the queues divide. Far right is non-eu and far left is the family / priority queue with EU just to the right of this. Even in peak summer the priority queue should not take more than 30 mins. When the EU queue is empty they funnel priority into that line so you have 2-3 desks for one queue most of the time.
There at e gates at faro but they are so rarely in use that I wouldn’t trouble yourself with whether UK passport holders will be able to use them or not.
