Reviving this old thread. I bought some toiletries and snacks at a tax free store in Osaka. When I depart from KIX, I plan to pack those items in my checked bags. Is that OK? I visit Japan every year, and I don't recall any bags (checked or carry-on) being screened by customs upon departure at airports in Japan in the last few years.
