Mea culpa, I left those out as they generally don't meet my needs. But for sure AmexPlat is a keeper if you pay cash for higher end hotels and/or paid biz class on the airlines in the program.
Thanks, I was not aware that the requirements had changed. At one point Amex required that you pay for a RT ticket (which doesn't work for me) in order to qualify for this benefit.
To be sure the Amex benefit has a little more wiggle room for its provider to determine whether transport is necessary or justified, whereas JPM appears to only require an MD certification, but that discussion is not the focus of this thread. For those who care here is the comparison of benefits as of today's date:
JPM:
These services provide emergency medical evacuation and transportation that is recommended by the attending Physician, and authorized and arranged by the Emergency Evacuation and Transportation service provider in advance for the Covered Traveler. To take advantage of these services, the following conditions must apply:
• The Covered Traveler becomes seriously sick, injured or dies while traveling on the Trip.
• The attending Physician certifies that the Covered Traveler’s illness or injury is severe enough to require an emergency medical evacuation and transportation.
Amex:
Emergency Medical Transportation Assistance
In the event the Card Member or another Covered Family Member becomes injured or ill while traveling and is seeking medical treatment as a result, the Premium Global Assist Hotline medical department can assess the adequacy of local facilities and the medical need for emergency medical transportation/evacuation. Such emergency medical transportation/evacuation may be provided at no cost if the Premium Global Assist Hotline medical department, after review of the medical information and in consultation with the local medical service provider or facility, determines there is a medical need at the time of the incident for such transport and such transport is advisable due to the inadequacy of local facilities.
