Nope, it was the wide seat (equivalent to AC's domestic narrowbody business), just 4 seats per row.

Boarding pass said "Premium", Zone 1, the works. Booze, hot meal (Salisbury Steak was okay, if something I associate with frozen dinners), metal cutlery.

The seat map on check-in showed that as well, first three rows with only large seats, 2 per side. Like I said, the plane that was scheduled to for that day had the correct configuration on the various airplane websites. It was apparently swapped with a MAX 8 (it wasn't supposed to be originally).

A little update just now. I had to leave in a bit of a hurry, as I had mentioned, and was feverishly preparing documents at the office late into Saturday evening as I was booking my flight. Upon returning to the work today I realized the tab with that day's WestJet search result was still open. This particular flight was apparently initially meant to be on an "Economy Seat Only" aircraft. WS were selling the seat for over $900, and similar itineraries with a premium cabin were going for between $1,500 and $2,300 for Premium, even with a Dash 8 between YYC and YEG.

$264 + $190 (with HST) seems quite the steal. Maybe I should thank an IT glitch due to equipment change?

Edit: Could "Economy seats only" also appear in the search results if Premium is sold out? And one opened up at check-in because of a cancellation. I think I did some experflyer searches and do believe the buckets indicated a Premium cabin.
