But note that you would not get lounge access on your way back to the UK, even if you are booked on a BA codeshare flight number through the BA website/app.

Lounge access in this scenario is only granted by virtue of it being a BA operated lounge. So unless flying from an airport that happens to have a BA lounge in the "right" terminal (e.g. at FCO) you do not get lounge access.

This privilege also only applies to Gold member; Silvers and below don't qualify, not sure about OWEs.
