I am considering booking a Gold Priority Reward (double Avios) for an upcoming booking on BA. However if space opens up for regular Avios on a partner airline, I would want to cancel the GPR and then immediately rebook on the partner airline with my BA Avios.

I suspect I wouldn't be able to do a happy path instant cancel and refund online for a GPR and would need to call in to do this.

Does anyone know if I would instantly get the Avios back if I call in to cancel the GPR, so that I could immediately use some of those Avios for a new booking at the regular rate?
