There are a few routes ex-RDU that can be pretty elite-light—i.e. off-peak hops to JFK and DCA—operated on E75s aka CPU goldmine and so this has definitely happened to me before. When there is all but one or two people left on the upgrade list, you can be pretty sure there will be no one left in groups 1 and 2 other than I suppose the rare non-AA/AS OWEs.
