Truer words have never been spoken. IASS was one of the strangest lounges I've ever visited. No food (and no outside food allowed!) - just soft drinks in a small mini fridge. They had a wide variety of Japanese newspapers with a few selections in English. They had a small library of books about the Hawaiian islands. That's it - not even a restroom. There were employees constantly sweeping the lounge for used cans, and presumably fulfilled the dual purpose of enforcing the "no food" rule.

My wife and I sat in wooden chairs that you might find in an elementary school classroom along a long table that faced out towards the windows lining the courtyard. Despite all of this - it was packed. We spent about 20 minutes here before moving on. It felt like what I would imagine detention might be like in a high school.
