I must say that having Gold often helped me. Even with a Saver ticket I once got a free upgrade to Business. Also (with a Full Flex ticket) I once managed to get my girl-friend upgraded too, (when I would be upgraded anyhow). Having access with a guest to all those lounges outside Dubai is surely useful. The free full speed internet, why not?

To make a long story short I am more than willing to pay "extra" for a Full Flex/Business class ticket to just keep myself into the Gold Tier.

From what I can sense, is that I should not worry too much about losing my tier status on just a few points, as one will be given a clear warning.
