That's true and would make sense if I fly lots of <500 miles segments. Also getting access to Economy+ at check-in and Preferred Seats at booking is a lot better than neither for regular no-status member who ends up often finding barely any seats to choose from in Economy.
That being said, I ended up going for 125K miles SUB for possible J award redemption despite possibly losing Silver next year.
