I checked to see when the check in desk closes as I wanted to see if my check in attempts were successful. I arrived just as the desk was closing, 45 minutes before the gate closed. Yes, late, but I travel frequently and have arrived last minute in past with no issue given I check in online and rarely if ever, do I check in luggage. Swiss Air agents were just closing up when I arrived to ask. I was berated for not arriving three hours in advance. I was denied the opportunity to proceed through security and head to the gate. I arrived at check in counter 45 minutes before the gate closed. They radioed gate attendants to confirm they were unable to process arrivees. I was advised to call Air Canada for an alternate flight. The question is: Has anyone booked a flight and neither the carrier nor the airline the flight was booked through not sent any comms about the flight besides “you’re booked here’s your itinerary”?
First, welcome to FlyerTalk!

It sounds as if you missed the check-in deadline. I've booked AC tickets for use on partners many times. I did this recently for a flight on Gulf Air. AC sent me a receipt with my AC booking reference (PNR) and that was it. I was able to check in on-line, but at no time before check-in did I receive anything from either carrier, and then it was a check-in confirmation from Gulf Air (noting a different Gulf Air PNR). That might sound custmer unfriendly, but that's the way it is. My personal rule is to be super careful of check-in cutoff deadlines if I've not been able to check-in prior to arrival at the airport. There may be a line at the counter, traffic, etc.
