One night stay this past Saturday for a wedding. I knew this was not an inspiring choice, but other options (Dream Inn, Seascape) were in the $500/night range, and they're really not worth that price. Was able to burn a Cat 1-4, so pretty high value. First time stay here. Nice location, neighborhood is pleasant, great access to Highway 17. Valets were great - fast and very friendly. But one of the worst check-in experiences I can recall at a Hyatt, FDA had incredibly bad attitude. Understanding that there is no upgrade benefit at HPs, still a surprise to get such a poor room assignment (2nd floor, overlooking pool, adjacent to housekeeping service room). Place could really use a refresh, especially the hallways, with beat-up carpeting and dank smell. Room was incredibly loud during the day with lots of noise from screaming kids in the pool and slamming doors from the hallway, but quiet enough at night. Many great breakfast options in Santa Cruz (we went to Seabreeze Cafe), I would never eat the breakfast here.
Overall, the place served its purpose.
