Does anyone know or have experience in flying and entering the EU using their ID card?

Thanks,
While I cannot answer the question directly, I have often entered the Schengen Zone at MUC on my US passport, and have always found that even the non-EU immigration line moved swiftly and efficiently. In addition, travel to the center of Munich on either of the two S-Bahn lines that terminate at the airport is reliable and reasonably quick. One suggestion: buy the appropriate type of day pass for your travels from and to the airport and within Munich instead of purchasing individual tickets for each journey.
