Have had no luck searching so hoping someone can help. I am a relatively new GS.

I understood from the wiki upon purchase of a premium cabin fare, UA would open an economy award saver seat for 1 companion, and i could use plus points to upgrade.

UA saying I need to have T class available for this--I thought they could convert T class to saver WITHOUT premium fare, so am confused.

Any experience on what is possible with a premium fare in terms of companion?
