This is a new procedure, because in the past you would have gotten questioned in AMS, but now you can still board your flight AMS-XXX without issues. Then afterwards apparently there's a system check and your return flight gets cancelled. Funny enough for the return trip, the AMS-ZWE part was still alive, it's just the flight segment that gets cancelled (in terms of the Platinum Service Line the 'flight coupon' gets removed from the booking).
The KLM app showed this as "flight cancelled on your request". Obviously not on my request, but that's maybe the message for when the flight is still operating but your ticket gets cancelled.
Are you sure you did online checkin
before departure of the first train segment and opened the boarding pass for the train? Because, afaik, that would be the only measurable way for KL to know that you actually took the train as there are no facilities in ZWE to pick up the ticket. My last data point is from 3 weeks ago, boarded Eurostar at Rotterdam station to Schiphol after enquiring with train manager. He was laughing because he knew exactly what I was doing. He did not scan the boarding pass or anything, there is no way KL could have know that I was (partially) on that train.
