Would appreciate some guidance on seating options for NZ1 flight (NYC to Auckland) in August. Booked in Economy with an Air-points upgrade to PE pending however don't fancy my chances of this coming through. I see that there is a 'multiseat' option on this particular route, where Air NZ will block a row of three seats for me for $590, or alternatively a Skycouch available for approx $900. I have heard Air NZ blocks out a couple of rows of empty seats further back in the plane (payload restrictions to keep it under weight) and that there's a bit of scramble to grab one of these rows once the plane is off the ground and we can move around. First time on this particular route and would appreciate advice/perspectives thanks!
