Nothing is a short taxi ride away from everything in Kyoto. You can of course pick your specific sights and restaurants to be a short taxi ride away from HR. The thing about Kyoto, sights are quite spread out, there are no locations that are great for everything, though there are locations that are not walking distance to anything.
