I haven’t done it personally, but I have read reports here from people who have. They report that the luggage eventually arrives.

That said, unless I had an absolutely urgent engagement, or I knew that the delay was caused by extraordinary circumstances, I’d much prefer to miss my flight and then try to collect my UK.261 jackpot, especially this early in the day, as I assume there’s likely another flight to her destination that’s not too much later.
