I’ve only ever done the intl to domestic transfer where you check bags at NH transit counter, go through security right nearby, board the airside bus that takes you to domestic. I guess I forgot that that was a NH-specific operation. But you’re saying JL has the exact same type of setup going on?
Do you think JL’s transit counter is well-equipped to handle check-in and tag bags, not just bag drop?
I've done this doing BKK - HND - NGO on two separate PNRs. Hook a right after customs and walk down, you'll see it on the left. If you have oneworld / JAL status there's a separate line for you for the counter. The transfer counter can handle check-in and tag a bag for you.
After that just continue down the hall and you'll see a small security checkpoint that goes straight to an airside bus, which will take you over to T1. I can't recall the bus schedule exactly, but it's about every 10 minutes.
