You'd think they could have planned better for this, or at least reacted better once they figured out how bad things are.
For example:
- for domestic flights (economy), bring out the delayed flight carts to the gates so folks could grab a packaged snack/drink before boarding (do they even still have those...haven't seen them for a while).
- for domestic F (flights with meal service scheduled)/international Y/J, provide a voucher to grab a meal at one of the restaurants in terminal before departure - value based on cabin/length of flight (less for Y, more for J/F).
I realize this isn't a perfect solution (people connecting might not have enough time to use it, etc.), but something is better than nothing. Also, might not work out as well for the ULH flights like HKG/SIN (how do you get a second meal at airport for multiple hours later), but perhaps taking the pressure off for domestic/shorter flights might allow more conecntration on the longer flights which clearly should be the priority.
