Shanghai airport arrivals, huge, bright, spotlessly clean. Border control was much easier than I had anticipated, the only fly in the ointment was that I had not completed an arrivals card and one question was to list all the countries you had visited in the past two years, that took some time filling in!
Once land-side there was the standard long, long line of people with name cards, and, guess what, mine was not amongst them! Over to the booking email which listed two emergency numbers, and both of them were out of service. I acquired the assistance of one of the taxi wranglers and he tried both with the same result

Not in the mood to faff around any further, I’ve jumped into a local cab for the hours ride to the hotel. Total cost £100, no idea if that is good or bad, don’t honestly care at this point
