Honestly, $250 is not enough for this. for an 8 hour overnight that seems ok but HKG is a long flight.... I usually eat dinner, mid flight and arrival. The delay plus no food! My last LAX-HKG was cancelled and they gave me food vouchers, a hotel, rebooked me on the AM flight next day (so, essentially a 12 hour delay) and I got $950 from that. This is at that level, in my opinion.
I am the SFO-HKG flight tonight.... thinking of switching to LAX but would lose my good seat (9A).... decisions, decisions....
I planned to skip 1st meal, then have the grilled cheese sandwich and soup on waking. They’re heating up the economy entree now, but rest of tray came out fine. Looks like main impact was the entrees and heated mid-flight options. Shelf-stable mid-flight snacks available. No sundae. The garlic bread was actually perfect! I probably wouldn’t switch flights.
