Thankyou everyone for your comments. I can't understand why the F/A would ask to check a bag when according my friend it would fit perfectly underneath his seat............it doesn't make sense. As for leaving his items in the carryon, he was a bit flustered with the F/A's request and he forgot that the items were in the bag. I'll share this info with him and encourage him to continue with his damage claim. Thank you again.
