ETA - chat agent finally showed up. Resolved.

Agent was helpful. Needed to pay a third time, but both prior (pending)payments are supposed to drop off. Lost my seat, but was able to get it back via the app. System glitched. Ghost reservation.

A failed transaction right at the payment stage will sometimes have the flight remain 'active', but show as unpaid.
The one I want to keep shows up in my app and online. UA sent me emails for both (with separate confirmation numbers) advising me that I appeared to have conflicting flights. The unwanted confirmation number does not come up when I try to bring it up in my app or on my computer. I tried calling, but their message says call back in several days if your flight isn't today. The chatbot couldn't help. I've been in queue for a chat rep for 20 minutes now, but need to check out of my hotel soon.

Both tickets were charged.
